Certificate in Analog Integrated Circuit Design offers analog integrated circuit (IC) training programme (Front-end) and (Back-end). This component focuses on the physical implementation and verification aspects of analog IC circuits. Analog IC design challenges the designer to find creative solutions to complex problems. Designing circuits that can accurately manipulate and process continuous signals requires careful consideration of noise, power consumption, linearity, and other performance parameters. While digital systems dominate many aspects of electronics, the trainees often need to interface with the analog world. Understanding analog IC design allows the trainees to bridge the gap between digital and analog components, making it possible to create systems that function seamlessly and reliably.

Learning Outcome

Upon completion of this programme, the trainees will be able to:

  • Understand Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) technology, design rules and fundamental devices for use in Analog IC Design and layout.
  • Identify and perform different analysis on the CMOS transistors using industry standard Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) tools.
  • Design and demonstrate the fundamental analog building blocks using CMOS transistors, and the ability to conduct comprehensive analysis.
  • Lay out the basic analog building blocks using industry standard EDA tools, optimizing for area, matching and parasitic constraints.
  • Perform Design Rule Check (DRC), Layout Versus Schematic (LVS) verification and parasitic extraction on the IC layout blocks.
  • Perform an IC design project or IC layout project using commercial Process Design Kits (PDKs).
Entry Requirement

Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Physics, Mathematics, or related fields, or equivalent.
